BackSpecialist Teacher of SEND and Assistant Psychologist

Lizzie is a Specialist SEND Teacher and Assistant Psychologist, working across the trust to provide enhanced support for staff and for children with specific educational needs.
After graduating with a BA Hons. History degree from Newcastle University, Lizzie decided to train as a teacher following a volunteer experience in India. During her PGCE studies, Lizzie completed a placement at a specialist SEMH provision and thus, her passion for SEND and inclusion began. She initially worked as a class teacher in an SEMH Specialist school in Gateshead, where she became Key Stage Lead. Following this, Lizzie gained greater experience with other areas of SEN as a curriculum lead and Maths coordinator at a SEN school in Blyth. Before joining LST, Lizzie worked as an SEMH Specialist Teacher for Stockton’s Inclusion and Vulnerable Learners Team. Here, she was able to support a wide range of educational provisions and young people with SEMH difficulties across the borough. Lizzie is a qualified Team Teach trainer, an Attachment Aware and Trauma Informed Lead and is currently completing her NASENCO qualification.
In her free time, Lizzie enjoys travelling- she has been to 60 countries and counting!
