Dave DaviesDave Davies

Dave began his working life as a Production Engineer before retraining to pursue a career in education. He taught Design and Technology at Washington School for ten years, before moving on to become Head of the Art and Design Faculty at Easington Community School. After achieving considerable success in this role, he then progressed into senior leadership spending nine years as Deputy Headteacher of Sandhill View School, in Sunderland, supporting the school to progress from being described by OFSTED as having ‘serious weaknesses’ to one of Sunderland’s most respected and successful schools.

In 2009, Dave was appointed Head Teacher of Sedgefield Community College in County Durham, where over the course of a decade he led the school from a position of considerable weakness to one recognised by ‘The Sunday Times’ as the North East Secondary School of the Decade in 2020. In 2017, an OFSTED inspection rated Sedgefield Community College 'Outstanding' in all respects.

Dave has participated in sport throughout his life and has also recently returned to his passion for oil painting.
