Sarah Kidd

Sarah began her teaching career working as a teacher of Science at Rodillian Academy, a comprehensive school in Leeds/Wakefield.

After two years, Sarah moved to Sedgefield Community College where she quickly became the Head of Science. Sarah was an intrinsic part of transforming the Science department into one of the top performing departments in the local authority. Sarah then progressed into the Assistant Head teacher position at Sedgefield Community College, leading on various T&L strategies across the school in addition to overseeing the day to day logistics of staff absence and cover whilst also continuing to lead and teach Science. It was during her time as AHT her team won the TES Science Department of the Year award, with their use of technology as a big contributor to winning the award. Sarah then moved into the position of Deputy Head teacher, overseeing all behaviour, safeguarding and attendance for the school in addition to delivering segments of behaviour hubs programme.

From September 2023, Sarah began a secondment at Excelsior Academy in order to lead and support a learning pathway for the most disengaged students to re-engage those back into their learning. Sarah was then appointed to the Central Team as the Director of Science in January 2024 where she supports all of our secondary schools in our goal of maximising the Science academic outcomes for our students in addition to raising aspirations in STEM and fostering a love for Science.
