Craig Hutton

Craig began his teaching career in September 2005 working as a teacher of Mathematics at Unity City Academy, a challenging inner-city school in Middlesbrough. After three years, Craig moved to Rye Hills School in Redcar & Cleveland where he quickly became an Advanced Skills Teacher in Mathematics before taking up an Assistant Head teacher position at Sedgefield Community College in September 2010. Continuing to teach Mathematics in the AHT role, Craig was an intrisic part of transforming the Mathematics department at Sedgefield into one of the top performing departments in the local authority.

Since 2010, Craig has built-up substantive leadership experience at Assistant Headteacher and Deputy Headteacher level at Sedgefield Community College, playing an integral role in the school becoming one of the top performing schools regionally and nationally; a performance they maintained over a number of years. Craig led on many initiatives during this time, including taking the lead on the schools Digital Strategy which supported the high level of student performance the school achieved and also resulted in the Pearson Award for 'Digital Innovator of the Year 2021'.

From February 2020, Craig began working across the schools in the Trust, alongside his Deputy Headteacher role at Sedgefield, in various forms including the Lead Deputy for Achievement & Standards and LST EdTech Trust Lead. Craig was then appointed to the Central Team full-time as the Executive Lead for Achievement & Standards in September 2023 where he supports all of our secondary schools in our goal of maximising the academic outcomes for our students.
